Neptune is the most common south of the Province of Rome. Its history was closely tied to the nearby town of Anzio, which was the birthplace of Caligula and Nero, and of which he collected the historical heritage. During the Second World War was an important garrison of Nazi troops, and because of this very hard bombings and attacks suffered by Allied troops, culminating in the famous landing of Anzio.
